Halloween

We thought it would be fun to dress Cody up as something completely ridiculous for Halloween this year since he wouldn't know the difference. He actually wore his costume during our trip to Maryland, but this is so cute that it deserves its own post. :)

Introducing...

Cody as an ice cream cone with sprinkles!!!

We also took him on his first trip to the pumpkin patch today.

Cody's first trip

This past weekend we went to Maryland for the main purpose of celebrating David's grandma Judy's 90th birthday. Added bonuses included meeting our new niece, Sabina, hanging with family, and enjoying the crisp fall weather and colors.
Cody did great on the plane! On the way there he slept on the ascent, flirted with the flight attendant during the flight, and chewed on his pacifier on the descent. He never cried, and as we exited the plane, we got tons of comments from other passengers about how amazingly good he was. He did equally well on the way home.

"Where am I, Mom?"

Sleeping on Daddy.

Bonding with his cousin.

Family portrait at Grandma's party.

The end of our fun walk in the gorgeous weather.

Taking time out for a nice nap.

Toys

Cody has been showing more and more interest in his toys during the past couple of weeks. He especially loves the octopus (we've named it "Ollie") that came with one of his play mats. He also really likes the little cow that we've attached to his carseat. With both, he will just stare at them and smile/talk for a long time.

And sometimes when he's really concentrating, he makes this funny cross-eyed pout. :)

Our BIG boy

For several weeks I had been noticing that Cody was getting too big for the bassinet and that he really needed to start sleeping in his crib. Even though his room is only like 15 feet away from ours, I had been resisting it - it was so convenient to have him right next to our bed where I could easily peek over to check on him throughout the night. Well, I finally gave in, and Cody slept in his crib for the first time last Monday night. He did great! He slept 8 hours and only woke up once. I have to say that I did experience some separation anxiety and was checking the video baby monitor a bit excessively. It's just so funny how small Cody looks in his crib when he could barely fit in the bassinet! And it's no wonder he was outgrowing the bassinet - he had his 2-month checkup last Tuesday and he weighed in at 14lbs, 12oz and measured 24.25 inches long, putting him in the 100th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for height. Someone's on his way to being big and strong like his daddy!
